Cultural Assembly

There was a school cultural assembly and some students from Room 14 danced on stage!

They do "dancing" during morning tea once a week and got to perform for the whole school in assembly.

Problem Solving with a friend

Room 14 really enjoys problem solving!

On Mondays and Fridays we do whole class problem solving. Here are some photos of the class working out the problem on their own, then helping a friend to see if they got it right. Then we discuss all the different ways we can work out the problem. There are many different strategies we can use in maths.

Buddy Class - Cultural Cloak

Cultural Cloak

Every second Friday we meet with our Buddy Class, H30 (Year 1, 5 year olds) and learn together. Mostly we do arts and crafts - and have some fun! We sing songs and learn about different cultures. We have two children in our class who have a brother or sister in our buddy class - they are rather lucky they get to see them during school time and learn together. That's special!

During Ako Tahi Time with our Buddy Class, we have been making a cultural cloak. First we coloured in the feathers, then dyed them, cut them out and today we pasted them on to MAKE THE CLOAK! We watch Maori Myths and Legends and learnt about the meaning of a cultural cloak.

Handprint Art

We are learning about the calendar in Maths and decided to integrate the curriculum and PAINT the seasons! We used our handprint to make a cherry blossom tree, the same ones we see outside the library, and used our fingers to paint the seasons...

Milk for Schools

We get free milk!

Every Tuesday and Thursday Year 2 to Year 8s get fresh chilled milk from Fonterra. Most of Room 14 have milk and look forward to it. 

We watched a video on how to fold the cartons correctly before we recycle them.
