Art - Screaming Hair

Excited faces!

Look at our self portraits! 

We used pastels and dye and gave ourselves crazy fun hair! Our expressions show we are excited for school. To make the hair we blew drops of dye through a straw to squiggle across the page.

It was hard work with lots of huffing and puffing...

but it was fun. We laughed out loud at the pictures.

As a class we have discussed our school RRAP (Responsibility Respect Attitude Pride) values as well as our classroom rules.

We decided to make a Class TREE-ty and we each signed it with our handprint!

Sketching - Natural Treasures

We have been practising our sketching with special art pencils. This week we having been sketching 'natural treasures' such as feathers, pine cones, shells, stones, driftwood etc. Afterwards we stick it in our writing books and then we write about them, describing our treasure in detail and even creating a poem.

Library - Books!

Newly Painted Library!

In the school holidays the school library was painted. Together with the new furniture last year, our library is a great place to visit! We go every Monday, so please be sure to return library books by Friday.

We jumped into our learning with some problem solving in Maths. We got to work collaboratively with our friends in mixed ability groups.  

Rich discussions, knowing our 'skip counting' in 2s, 3s and 5s and using materials helped us solve the problem!

Welcome to Room 14

Welcome to Year 3!

My name is Mrs Kelli Boyd and I'm super excited to be teaching Year 3 in Room 14 this year! 

In my class you'll get Fs... I'm FIRM... I'm FAIR.... but most of all, I'm FUN! We'll certainly have lots of fun as that is when children become motivated, engaged and learn their best. Bringing out the greatest potential in each and every student, and how they learn, is what I thrive for. In addition to building relationships and exploring the curriculum together to meet and/or exceed the National Standards.

I couldn't help myself but pop into my classroom during the school holidays and set it up. Soon it will be full of YOUR work displayed on the walls Room 14... but in the meantime, here is a sneak peek...
